ELECTED OFFICIALS

           The City of Fairfax has a Mayor and five City Council Members.  These officials are elected during the municipal elections held every two years.

           The Mayor position has a term of two years.  The City Council positions have terms of four years.

           The City Council meets the second Tuesday of each month for their regular meeting.  Special meetings are called as needed.  The meetings are held at 525 Vanderbilt Street in city hall.  The meetings usually begin at 7:00 PM.  Notice of a City Council meeting is posted 24 hours in advance at the post office, library, and city clerk’s office.

Mayor Jason Rabe

            Jason Rabe was elected to Fairfax City Council in November of 2007 and as mayor in November of 2009.  Jason just began his first term as mayor on January 1, 2010.  He was elected to his second term as mayor in November of 2011.  Jason and his wife, Julia, live in Fairfax and have a 20 month old son, Kaden.  He has been employed at Guaranty Bank in Fairfax since 2006.  Being a newcomer to town, he has enjoyed the friendliness and atmosphere of Fairfax, and looks forward to serving the city with the goal of continually making it a great place to live.  You may contact Jason by telephone at 319-310-0717 or through email at mayorrabe@gmail.com

                Travis Otto is the newest member of the Fairfax City Council.  He was appointed to fill a vacancy during the city council meeting on February 9, 2010.  Travis was elected to his first full term in November of 2011.  Travis has been a Fairfax resident since June of 2001.  He and his wife Melissa are local business owners and have two children, Olivia and Carson.  Travis previously served on the Fairfax Planning and Zoning Commission.  He is committed to serving the citizens of Fairfax.  You may contact Travis by email at:  OttoCompanies@aol.com or by phone through city hall at 319-846-2204.
